We are very excited about planning for next year! We are hoping that as we continue to see improvements through this coronavirus pandemic, we will also see improvements in our guidelines and recommendations.

Dear Fayette Academy Family,

As we continue to work through our re-enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year, we are so  pleased with your effort to re-enroll early, it’s been so good to see so many of you recently!   Early re-enrollment truly helps us plan more accurately and efficiently for classrooms, class sections offered, and scheduling for all grades.  At this point, guidance regarding maximum occupancy and distancing specifically for the classroom has not changed.  In light of that, Fayette Academy is planning to utilize a slightly modified block schedule similar to the one we used this year in the Upper School (grades 9-12).  You will notice this schedule has changed just a bit.  We have added a Community block.  This Community block of time facilitates many needed opportunities for our students.  Community block includes *daily math lab (required for students carrying an 80 or below in their math class and for optional tutoring for those who may need/want extra help mastering a concept (in any class)), *advisory – where students meet with their advisors who keep an academic check on their grades and offer help, *chapel – our weekly chapel will take place during Wednesday community block, and *club meetings – monthly club meetings will be scheduled during this period of time.  Including the Community block in our daily schedule allows our schedule to be the same every single day for consistency, and it offers our students the opportunity to participate in many activities without interrupting their class schedules.  Also, please keep in mind, students will continue to have breakfast items available to them during their morning class times.

Another difference you will see in the schedule is two upper school lunches taking place during the 3rd period block.  This will allow extra space in the cafeteria so our students will not be crowded, and our lines will not be crowded.  One upper school lunch will take place during the first 25 minutes of class, and the second upper school lunch will take place during the last 25 minutes of class.  By doing those lunches at the beginning of class and the end of class, those students will have uninterrupted class time either before or after lunch.  Keep in mind, all students will have breakfast available during their 1st or 2nd period class as well.

Middle School (grades 6-8):

The middle school schedule will be determined by the number of middle school students enrolled for the 2021-2022 school year. We need to be able to maintain safe distances between our students in each classroom.  We will utilize either a daily or a modified block schedule, whichever is necessary to maintain the requirements of maximum occupancies safely for our students. We will notify families as soon as possible when we know which schedule will be utilized for the Middle School Division.

Lower School (grades PreK – 5):

Enrollment and re-enrollment early allows us to plan appropriately for our class sizes.  As a grade fills, we must put students on a waiting list until we have enough students for another class.  This is much easier done in the spring than in late summer, which is why we encourage re-enrollment in the month of March.  Also, please consider, we have limited classroom space available for opening new classes.

Just a reminder – re-enrollment online and in-person is taking place now.  We are open for in-person re-enrollment from 7:45 AM – 3:30 PM each day during the month of March.  Re-enrollment will continue without late penalty through March 31.  Late fees will be applied beginning April 1, 2021.

We are very excited about planning for next year!  We are hoping that as we continue to see improvements through this coronavirus pandemic, we will also see improvements in our guidelines and recommendations. You have been patient and kind as we have worked through a year unlike any other!  When we look at the turmoil within schools/systems across the nation, I feel we have been very blessed to have been in school since August, with only the need to transition to remote learning a few times.  Our faculty has been incredible with these transitions, and we appreciate them so much!

Please let us know if we can help you in any way.

Blessings,

Courtney Burnette
