Fayette Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, co-educational independent school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten 2 through 12th grade. We are currently seeking a qualified Middle School Spanish teacher to deliver daily instruction for grades 6 through 8.
The Middle School Spanish curriculum is designed to introduce students to the Spanish language through a comprehensive approach that emphasizes the four essential areas of foreign language acquisition: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The primary aim of our middle-school Spanish program is to develop and nurture critical linguistic skills necessary for effective communication as well as foster an appreciation for and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures and traditions.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Commits to the ideals expressed in Fayette Academy’s Mission and Vision Statement
- Plans, prepares, and delivers age-appropriate lessons for students entering middle school as well as school students preparing to transition to upper school
- Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
- Selects and uses effective instructional methods, technology, and learning materials that engage all learners
- Establishes a cooperative relationship with all students
- Keep records of student progress and maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians
- Engages in professional growth activities
- Works collaboratively with foreign language department chair and faculty to maintain vertical alignment within the department
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of middle school students for the duration of their middle school career
- Participates in responsibilities and duties outside of the classroom such as carpool and lunch coverage as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Education or Spanish
- State teaching license in the relevant field preferred
- Prior experience teaching Spanish preferred
- Must successfully complete background screening and verification
- Ability to use computers and technology including Google suite products
- Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, co-workers, and parents
- Flexibility, self-reliance, teamwork, dependability, work ethic, problem-solving skills, and congeniality are essential
