Taylor Smith serves as the Upper School Counselor and College Advisor. Mrs. Taylor first interned at Fayette Academy in 2014 during her undergraduate work at the University of Memphis. Taylor states, “I just fell in love with the Viking community and decided to enter the Master’s program so that I could come back as full-time staff.” Mrs. Taylor attended the University of Memphis where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Science in School Counseling, and certification in College Admission Counseling.
Jana Smigielski serves as the Lower and Middle School Counselor at Fayette Academy as well as Fayette Academy Testing Coordinator. She grew up in Memphis and attended Evangelical Christian School. Jana went on to get her undergraduate degree in Social Work at Union University and then received her Master’s Degree in Education with a licensure in School Counseling at Freed-Hardeman University. Jana describes working at Fayette Academy as her dream job.
The counseling program at Fayette Academy strives to provide a nurturing environment that enhances the social, emotional, and academic experiences of each student.
The counselor provides the lower school with a counseling curriculum that focuses on academic planning, responsibility, social and emotional skills, and career readiness.
The counselor provides a Character Class for all 6th graders which are designed to teach students values that develop Godly character.
All students in lower and middle school are given opportunities to meet with the counselor concerning academic, social, and emotional issues that may arise.
