Pre-Kindergarten 2 (PK2) Assistant Teacher

Fayette Academy is a 501(3)c non-profit PK2-12 co-educational organization seeking two part-time Pre-Kindergarten 2 (PK2) Assistant Teachers to support our mission of inspiring minds for learning and hearts for Christ. The PK2 Assistant Teacher will care for the needs of all enrolled children 18-months-old to 35-months-old. The teacher is responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment that promotes children to develop socially, physically, intellectually, and spiritually. The Early Childhood division focuses on creating a warm and caring atmosphere of playful exploration and discovery which ignites inquiry and incorporates multi-sensory experiences.

PK2 is a 52-week program open daily from 6:30 A.M. until 5:45 P.M. and closed only on major holidays. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children following all standards set forth by the Tennessee Department of Education regarding Early Childhood childcare. 
  • Daily instructional plans should demonstrate knowledge of best practice in differentiated instruction and implement pedagogical approaches that encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. 
  • Contribute to the school community by attending school events and maintaining positive relationships with the faculty and staff. 
  • Engage in professional learning and growth, including co-planning, department meetings, age level meetings and other opportunities of professional development and growth. 
  • Plan and teach highly engaging, developmentally appropriate curriculum and lessons. 
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with students, inspiring a love for learning and fostering the development of positive, productive members of society. 
  • Establish and uphold classroom expectations that support the whole child and develop lifelong learners. 
  • Maintain close relationships with families, including phone calls, conferences, calendars, newsletters, progress reports, weekly posts on SeeSaw, and daily parent communication to benefit their child. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Development preferred
  • Experience with pre-school age children preferred
  • Personal characteristics include flexibility, creative, energetic, self-motivated, and high sense of integrity
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs and willing to diaper and toilet train

Appointment: Monday- Friday Part-Time; Hourly

Contract Period: 12 Months
