SKOL Robotics

Fayette Academy started their very first First Robotics Competition team for the "Charged Up" 2022-2023 season, thanks to the sponsorship of Christian Brothers University. Their first chance to compete was at the Arkansas Regional in Searcy, Arkansas, where they won the Rookie Inspiration Award. Through this amazing opportunity and experience of discovery and innovation, they improved their robot and prepared to compete a second time at the Rocket City Event in Huntsville, AL. In Huntsville they continued to improve and won the Highest Rookie Seed Award and the Rookie Inspiration Award. The Skol Robotics are looking forward to competing again for the 2023-2024 season next year.

What is First Robotics Competition (FRC)?

Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.

FIRST Core Values

  • Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
  • Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
  • Impact: We apply what we learn to improve our world.
  • Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
  • Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.”
