After an extensive and careful search for our next varsity softball coach, we are pleased to announce to you that Amber Johnson has agreed to return to her alma mater and be the next coach of the Lady Vikings! Coach Amber Johnson is a 2014 graduate of Fayette Academy where she played 5 seasons on the varsity softball team, starting as an 8th grader and having her #20 retired her senior year. After graduating high school, she attended Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, MO for one year playing softball for the Lady Raiders. Coach Johnson finished up her collegiate softball career at Christian Brothers University playing for the Lady Bucs for three years. After finishing her collegiate softball career, she began coaching travel softball. Coach Johnson coached three years for the Big League Wildcats organization and is currently coaching for the Fury Platinum organization. Coach Johnson began her high school coaching career three years ago as head coach of the Lady Wildcats of Fayette-Ware. In 2023, she led the team to their first Division 1, Class 3A district tournament runner-up and regional runner-up in school history.
Coach Johnson is currently teaching 2nd grade at Buckley Carpenter Elementary and when she has any extra time, she enjoys playing slow pitch softball and spending time with her 3-year-old son, Thomas, and excitedly awaiting the arrival
of another baby due in August. Coach Moffatt, her high school softball coach, said, “Amber is one of the best softball players ever to come through Fayette Academy being named co-mvp of the region her senior year. She had a great feel for the game, and I know she will do a great job as the next head coach of the Lady Vikings.”
