Fayette Academy students Addison West and Tessa Brewer recently had the opportunity to share their experiences from a leadership camp during a presentation before the Farm Bureau Women’s monthly meeting.
In June, West and Brewer attended a weeklong Leadership Camp at Tennessee Tech University, an experience made possible through the generous support of the Farm Bureau Women, who graciously covered the students’ expenses to attend.
The camp challenged the students to step outside of their comfort zones while developing their leadership skills, building confidence, and gaining a better understanding of their individual strengths and areas for growth.
Dinah Armour, who has watched the young women grow over the years, was especially pleased with their progress.
“They did great! They looked like they had fun and learned from the week. Having seen them over the years, I could tell that they were maturing in leadership. The week put them out of their comfort zone, but they said it revealed where they were weak and strong in leadership.”
Following their experience at Tennessee Tech, West and Brewer were able to return the generosity shown to them by sharing what they learned with the Farm Bureau Women. Their presentation provided an opportunity to reflect on the week and demonstrate how the leadership experience has contributed to their personal growth.
Fayette Academy is grateful to the Farm Bureau Women for investing in the next generation of leaders and providing students with opportunities to learn, grow, and develop skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
